Why We Ban These Ingredients
As a Cosmetic Scientist and Expert Facialist, Deborah Scott understands that many common ingredients found in conventional products can cause more skin ageing than they were designed to address. Our formulas are meticulously designed to ensure they:

❌ LIQUID PLASTICS & THICKENERS (THE BARRIER BLOCKERS)
- Acrylates Copolymer: A microplastic used to thicken products; can seal the skin, disrupting natural functions.
- Carbomers: Synthetic ingredients used to suspend and thicken; potential skin and environmental harm.
- Nylon: Used for slip and slide; a form of liquid plastic that contributes to breakouts and pollutes waterways.
- Silicones (General): Used for smooth texture; pollutes rivers and is a form of liquid plastic.
- Dimethicone: A texture enhancer that can seal blocked pores, contributing to acne and trapped dirt.

- Parabens: Synthetic preservatives linked to health and environmental concerns.
- Phenoxyethanol: Not allowed by Soil Association/COSMOS; can cause severe skin sensitivity and suspected neurotoxic effects.
- EDTA (Disodium SALT): Stabilises synthetic ingredients; potential for long-term skin and environmental issues.
- Triclosan: Antibacterial chemical flagged for ineffectiveness over soap and water, with ongoing health study concerns.

- Sulphates, SLS Soaps: Foaming agents that can irritate and strip the skin.
- Fragrances (Synthetic): We only use natural essential oil or 100% plant-derived aromas.
- Phthalates: Chemical plasticizers often used to carry synthetic fragrances.
- Liquid Petroleum: Covers the skin, leading to long-term dryness and dependency; not for long-term use.
- Nanomaterials: Microscopic particles (<100m) with uncertain long-term effects on the body.
